You spend your entire pregnancy concerned for the health and safety of your baby, but what about your own?

A Welsh family has been left devastated, after mum Charlotte Fairlie gave birth to twins only to shortly after suffer a stroke that has wiped her pregnancy from her memory.

Charlotte’s husband, Rob, has shared their story with Wales Online in an effort to raise much-needed funds for her treatment.

According to reports, Charlotte was left partially paralysed and with amnesia following the stroke, which was caused by preeclampsia. Rob confirmed that his wife had had a healthy pregnancy.

The distraught father said that he and Charlotte only had a few minutes with their newborn twins, Fox and Teddy, before her condition began to deteriorate.

“It breaks my heart seeing her like this. Charlotte needs 24/7 care, and how much better she will get we don’t know, but she was so desperate to be a mum and I want to help her do that,” said Rob.

With the twins now 10 months old, Charlotte now is able to take a few steps and say a few words.

Charlotte’s friend, Jessica Haagen, has set up a GoFundMe page (which can be found through this link) for the mother-of-two, to help the raise money for her treatment. So far, over £8,000 has been donated by generous members of the public.

Charlotte and her family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
