Hermione Norris talks motherhood and feeling good in her 50s

Hermione Norris is fantastic in everything she has acted in - from Cold Feet to The Crimson Field to her latest role in Luther.

Being a woman on screen is no easy place - least of all as you approach your 50s.

But Hermione isn't letting that faze her, as she told Good Housekeeping.

The 51-year-old opened up to the publication about raising her two children and hitting that 5-0 milestone.

She said, ''When I turned 50, it was a time for reflection, and within that, there was huge gratitude and grief.''

She continued, ''You realise there are things that are no longer available to you. Doors have closed and you don’t realise that until you’re there…”

She added, ''There is also a sense of real liberation and freedom…I appreciate the sense of security as a woman. It’s more of an internal journey and I find the peace of that hugely liberating…I have looked forward and grown into myself.”

Hermione has been married to writer and producer Simon Wheeler for 16 years, after meeting him on the set of TV crime drama series Wire In The Blood.

They have two children together - 14-year-old Wilf and 11-year-old Hero.

She said, ''There are people you have mad passionate affairs with and people who you marry. Marriage is finding somebody who you can raise a family with, grow old with and who you want to come home to.''

She continued, ''It sounds a bit of a passion killer, but it’s true. It’s hard raising a family so you need someone who you can trust to do it with.”

We can't see the demand for Hermione's work to slow down any time soon and we can't wait to see what she brings to TV in 2019.
