Rowena Churchland hired a nanny to look after her 18 month-old son, Olly, when she returned to work following maternity leave.

Rowena then decided to install a camera into her baby's room after her own mother had become concerned that the nanny wasn’t being completely truthful about numerous incidents that she had been asked about.

Not believing she would see anything, Rowena decided to install the camera as a peace of mind when she couldn't be around her son while he was with the nanny.

However, the mum was absolutely horrified to see the nanny she had hired to look after her 18 month-old son attacking him in his cot.

Baby Olly was left in the cot, restless and unhappy for over an hour but received no attention from the woman who was supposed to be caring for him.

The footage then shows the child being handled roughly, smacked on the bum three times and flung face down into the cot.

Rowena and her husband Jack, hired the nanny who had been in employment for over a year before the incident was caught on camera. To make matters worse, it was this scene they witnessed on the very first time they watched a recording of the nanny.

The heartbroken mum spoke of her pain at seeing the video footage: “I felt so helpless. I wanted to be Olly’s voice – I feel like I let him down.”
