She may be one of the most famous and successful actresses in Hollywood, but it would appear that Scarlett Johansson wasn’t always in such a fortunate position.

The 30-year-old took some time out of her hectic promotional tour for her latest movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron, to record a moving plea in support of the Feeding America campaign to end child hunger.

Scarlett, who welcomed daughter Rose Dorothy last September, drew on her own experience to send an emotional message in the video recording.

The star, who has a twin brother and two older siblings, revealed: “My family grew up relying on public assistance to help provide meals for our family. Child hunger in America is a real and often overlooked problem, but one that together, we can fix.”

“It is my hope that by joining with Feeding America, our awareness of this issue will lead to a solution,” she added.

The star was also joined by her Avengers co-star Jeremey Renner, who is also a parent to a young daughter.

“As an American, it’s hard to hear that we have a serious hunger problem in America. And as a parent, it’s even harder to hear that one in five kids struggles with hunger,” added the star.

Let’s hope that their support will make a difference for such a worthy cause.
