There was widespread delight when this actress welcomed her first child, and when the name was announced everyone jumped to the same conclusion – it was Disney-inspired.

Well, it turns out that we were all pretty much on-point when it came to Esmeralda Amada, the daughter of Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes

In a new interview, on The Wendy Williams Show, doting mum Eva finally opened up about the inspiration behind her precious daughter’s name.

“We [she and Ryan] love Hunchback of Notre Dame, we loved the name, the cartoon and the novel. It’s actually a very popular Latin name so it’s easy for my father and certain family members that still don’t speak English to pronounce – that was a good selling point,” said the 41-year-old.

In the same interview, Eva shared her frustration over the term ‘bouncing back’, referring to mums getting back into shape after welcoming their little ones.

“I feel like we can be really hard on each other. That whole term ‘bounce back’ after pregnancy…I don’t know. I don’t like that terminology. Look, if you go into the bikini two weeks after, good for you, but that wasn’t me,” she said, candidly, adding, “I just feel like we, as women, need to support each other more.”

Eva and Ryan recently celebrated their daughter’s first birthday with a low-key party for family and close friends.
