Being one of the most famous actresses in the world can have its downsides, particularly when it comes to social media, as Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon has learned this week.

The star has been ‘food shamed’ after sharing a photo of her children’s breakfast to her Instagram account.

Posting a photo of two cinnamon rolls and a slice of apple on a plate, the mother-of-three wrote: “Good morning! #ISeeAFace #ToddlerBreakfast”.

However, while the 38-year-old likely expected people to focus on her artistic ability, she was in for a rude awakening, as a number of her followers took issue with the star’s ‘unhealthy’ choice of breakfast.

Among the complaints against Reese – who is mum to 15-year-old Ava, 11-year-old Deacon, and 2-year-old Tennessee – were that the meal she was serving up for her youngest was too full of sugar.

“Sugar and more sugar…oh, and one piece of fruit…That will definitely get the toddler moving,” wrote one follower.

Meanwhile, another commented: “What a horrible thing to feed a growing child for breakfast.”

However, a number of her fans leapt to her defence, with one writing: “The point of this picture wasn’t to have people judge her food choices…It’s cute and creative! Try looking at the smiley face and see the positive rather than criticising. Moderation is key. A honey bun here and there doesn’t hurt!”
