You may have noticed that it’s not easy to wear makeup without looking like you’re wearing it! It takes some skill to make it look natural. We’ve outlined our best tips on how to get an effortless looking fresh look.

Moisturise your face
The smoother the skin, the easier it is to apply foundation. That is why having skin that is well-moisturised and hydrated is the perfect foundation for any look. This allows your radiant, natural complexion to play a major role in the makeup process, and also means you’ll need less product.

When choosing a foundation, stay away from chalky, flat powders. Instead look for creams and liquids with a luminous, radiant finish.

Camouflage..but be subtle about it
When covering skin imperfections subtlety is key. For the natural makeup look, the biggest mistake is to be heavy-handed with your concealer. It should be used only where necessary such as around the nostrils, under the eyes and over blemishes.

Choosing the right colour foundation is important. If you’re in between shades, go with the darker one, since going lighter almost always looks chalky and artificial. Apply foundation onto areas where you have redness, uneven tones or discoloration and blemishes. Be sure to blend the edges and down onto your jawbone so you don’t look like you’re wearing a mask

Define your eyes
Don’t forget to neglect your eyebrows in this step. They should be neat and groomed, this small step will make you look more finished and polished, but still natural.

Make your eyelashes luscious by curling and applying just one coat of mascara or apply more if you’re in a dramatic mood. Choose eye shadow and liner tones that mimic your skin, such as earthy sands and browns.

Tint those lips
For lips to complement the natural-makeup look, they should be soft and satiny, not bold and matte. Use a lip-toned gloss to finish a natural look and to make lips look fuller. Alternatively, you could consider a lip stain, which is subtle yet still gives a hint of colour.
