Do you want softer hands? Our hands can easily become dry and rough due to the constant exposure we give them to harsh weather, chemicals and other factors that dry them out and make them look older. It is not always possible to protect our hands with gloves when going out the work we need to do. Luckily, there are other ways that we can keep our hands pampered and cared for.

Wash your hands regularly
Keep your hands clean and dirt free. There are many great gentle moisturising soaps on the market that allow regular hand washing without causing them to dry out. Ensure that you dry your hands properly, especially in the winter.

Always moisturise
Mousturising your hands is really important to their care. If possible do it as often as you can using a hand moisturiser. Hand cream containing glycerine is very effective at soothing and smoothing rough, chapped hands.

Have moisturiser readily available in your handbag, at work and in your bathroom. You do not need to buy expensive brands; some cheap ones can be just as good. It is advised to use a good, but cheap brand regularly rather than an expensive one occasionally.
Remember to moisturise both your hands and cuticles as cuticles can get very dry, which can result in cracking, bleeding and pain. This can also result in open skin, causing infections.

Apply petroleum jelly at night
This is a great way to improve skin that is severely dry. At bedtime apply some petroleum jelly all over the dry areas of your hands. Wear cotton gloves to bed and sleep with them on throughout the entire night. This gives your skin the opportunity to heal without any distraction and keep soft during the night.

Pamper your hands with oil
Soften your hands naturally by rubbing in olive oil for a few minutes, followed by rubbing slices of lemon over them. After this, wash your hands gently and dry them carefully. You skin should look a lot softer and healthier.

Follow the above tips to give you better looking hands that will stand the test of time!
