These stories are becoming more and more common, particularly in the United States, and it seems some people have major difficulty actually telling that they are pregnant.
This turned out to be the case for Jennifer Favela and Jeff Parungao recently, when their son arrived into the world by complete surprise!
According to CBS Los Angeles, neither Jennifer nor Jeff had any idea that they were going to be parents again. The couple were already mum and dad to a 13-year-old and a seven-year-old.
Indeed, they got quite the shock when Jennifer woke up in the early hours of the morning on Monday, with what she initially thought was a ‘stomach ache’.
It didn’t take long for them to realise what was really happening, however.
Jeff recalled his phone call to the emergency services: “I go, ‘I think my wife’s having a baby. But we’re not pregnant.’ I told her, and she’s like, ‘Excuse me?’”
The couple’s son was born shortly after, at 4am, and was delivered by Jeff himself.
When asked if there had been any signs that she might be expecting, 35-year-old Jennifer said that while she had not experienced any morning sickness, she had noticed that her periods were ‘lighter’.
Jeff, meanwhile, had only pointed out her growing size last week!
“I told her, ‘Hey, we need to do something. Man, you’re gaining weight’,” he told local media.
