Saira Khan has admitted to feeling ‘abnormal’ when she was unable to conceive children.

The presenter, best known for her stint on the Loose Women panel, made the admission during the show this week.

The 47-year-old, who has been married to husband Steve Hyde for 13 years, revealed that her infertility struggle was linked to her endometriosis diagnosis.

“We wanted to start having children, and I found out that I had endometriosis, so we had to go through the whole IVF thing. So, you know, that was pretty intense,” she said.

With the help of IVF, Saira and Steve welcomed their son, Zachariah. However, they eventually turned to adoption to expand their brood.

“My second IVF failed, and then we adopted, so we actually had two or three years where just starting and completing a family had so much pressure,” she added.

The couple adopted their daughter, Amara, from an orphanage in Pakistan. The tot had been abandoned in the doorway of the orphanage as a newborn.

“Looking back now, when I couldn’t conceive, I just felt abnormal; that it was all my fault. And I kind of hid away from Steve, and I didn’t focus on him.”

This isn’t the first time that Saira has given a candid insight into her family life. Recently, she admitted that she was so disinterested by sex that she had given her husband the green light to sleep with other women.

Husband Steve appeared on the show days later to give his side of the story, revealing that he was ‘devastated’ by Saira’s suggestion.

“To be honest, I was pretty devastated for her to even think that she had to say something like that to me; that I would even think about doing, or contemplate doing that,” he said.

“It was just not for me. I felt it was nonsense.”

A tearful Saira went on to apologise to Steve in front of the Loose Women panel and their legion of viewers, admitting that she was ‘deeply embarrassed’ by the incident.
