She experienced her fair share of drama during her tenure on reality shows like The Hills and The City, but this year proved to be one of the most difficult for Kristin Cavallari.

The star’s brother Michael passed away earlier this year, just after the birth of her daughter, and she has opened up about how she got through that traumatic time.

In a live interview with Us Weekly, 29-year-old Kristin credited her kids Camden (four), Jaxon (two), and 10-month-old Saylor with helping her through her grief.

“I had an interesting past year where my brother passed away and my daughter was born, and so I couldn’t just fall apart. I did at the time, and I still do find a lot of strength in my children – especially Saylor, just because of the timing,” she revealed.

Kristin also insisted that the responsibilities of motherhood forced her to work through the traumatic time.

“You can’t just stay in bed and feel sorry for yourself. You’ve got to get up – you have other lives to take care of. You’ve got to put food on the table, you’ve got to get them dressed and off to school and everything. You can’t just feel sorry for yourself,” she added.

Losing a loved one, especially a family member, is indescribably difficult; we’re sure many other mums out there can relate to Kristin’s comments.
