There was sad news yesterday, after it was revealed that magician Paul Daniels has been diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour, days after spending time in hospital.

The popular entertainer only learned of his illness last week, and his son Martin, who has performed on stage with his father, is said to have cancelled his own show in South America to rush home.

“I need to get back to be with my dad,” Martin explained when he called off his upcoming shows.

77-year-old Paul’s publicist confirmed the diagnosis yesterday, requesting the family’s privacy.

“We can confirm that one of our greatest magicians and entertainers of all times, Paul Daniels, has sadly been diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour. On behalf of Paul, Debbie and their families, we thank you for your kind concerns and support at this sad time and ask that their privacy continues to be respected. There will be no further comments at this time,” it read.
