She was always known for her gorgeous smile on Live and Kicking, but British presenter Emma Forbes got real about her body image in her latest interview.

Appearing on Loose Women today, the 52-year-old opened up about finally deciding to lose her ‘baby weight’, after coming across what she took to be ‘unflattering’ bikini photos.

Emma, who is mum to 20-year-old Lily and 18-year-old Sam, said: “I had my children and never lost my baby weight. It’s fine when kids are aged two or three, but there’s a problem when they are 20.”

“For me, I wanted to lose that weight. I didn’t recognise myself. You don’t look at that section of you.”

It was a combination of turning 50 and her children moving out of home that eventually encouraged Emma to dive into a health overhaul.

“Everyone made such a big deal about me turning 50, and were like, ‘Are you gonna have a party?’ But I just wanted a change. You’re very vulnerable at 50,” she added.

“I had empty-nest syndrome, and I didn’t want to be at home and eating. I just thought, have a lifestyle change.”

While other celebs have turned to surgery for a lift, or a little nip and tuck; Emma admitted that she had too strong a fear of a procedure going wrong.

“I didn’t want surgery,” she insisted. “I’d end up botched. I thought, it’s time to get on top of health. So I gave up sugar and I walked. I hiked up mountains.”

Fair play to her – she’s giving us serious fitness inspiration right now!

Loose Women viewers were treated to a very special moment on the show today, when Emma and her former Live and Kicking co-host, Andi Peters, were reunited.

The pair fronted the popular BBC children’s show together for three years, pretty much becoming national treasures (yes, we’re getting a little bit sentimental, here!).

Emma previously gushed about motherhood, describing it as ‘a better achievement than any career’.
