They welcomed their little one into the world almost two months ago, and finally Jennifer Metcalfe and Greg Lake have introduced their baby son.
The loved-up couple posed for an exclusive shoot for OK! magazine, revealing their son’s name and the traumatic tale behind his birth.
Jennifer and Greg have chosen to name their little one Daye Colmic Lake – an unusual moniker if we ever did hear one!
“I wasn’t sure about it, but one day I was driving home and I thought, Daye Lake sounds good – I like this! That was always the name for a boy,” Jennifer explained.
There was a little more of a back-story to the tot’s middle-name, however – and it’s beautifully sentimental.
“My dad was called Colin, and Greg’s dad is Mick. Greg quite likes having the dads’ names carry on, and I’m not a fan of more than one middle-name. I wanted something original,” she added.
While Jennifer revealed that she pushed Daye out in just five minutes, his birth was far from straightforward.
Indeed, the medical team branded Daye a ‘miracle’ after discovering a knot in the umbilical cord.
Dad Greg revealed that the new parents weren’t quite sure of what was going on at first.
“It’s a miracle when anyone has a baby, so we thought they would say that. But the midwife lifted him up and showed us the cord had a knot in it,” he explained.
“If he had tightened it, he wouldn’t have got any oxygen – we were so lucky.”
Jennifer and Greg, who have been together for four years now, first announced their baby news on Instagram.
A glossy magazine shoot was always on the cards, after Greg posted a photo of a card and package he received on Father’s Day, labelled ‘Daddy’.
We are so thrilled for Jennifer and Greg, and relieved to hear that everything turned out well in the end.
What a little cutie Baby Daye is! What do you think of his name? Be sure to let us know!
