Gwen Stefani and her husband of 13 years, Gavin Rossdale, split up in August of this year, after she discovered he’d been cheating with the nanny, but kept it to themselves until recently.

Speaking on Washington’s The Tommy Show on 94.7FM, the No Doubt singer, who is currently in a relationship with Blake Shelton, admitted that she wished “all this wasn't happening”.

Candidly speaking about this sad part of her life, The Voice coach is also looking at it with a sense of perspective, saying: “I wish it didn't happen. I wish this, that all this, wasn't happening. But at the same time, I feel like it was part of my life journey."

The 46-year-old, who is mum to three children - Kingston, Zuma and Apollo - with Gavin, also admitted that while there are “so many bad things” about the divorce, that doesn’t mean there isn't any joy.

“There are so many bad things, oh my God. Like, I can’t even believe it. But, at the same time, there are lots of good things, and I do get to have a second chance, and I have a lot of joy right now.”

There is one thing that has been her saviour through her heartbreak though, and that’s her music.

Explaining that she feels lucky to have the ability to create something incredible out of sadness, the mum-of-three said: "In my life, I've had two really bad heartbreaks and I've written some really incredible music out of it," Stefani said. "I feel so lucky to have that, and to be able to share it."
