It has been a turbulent year for Rocco Ritchie, and it looks as though drama has reached peak levels this week, with the revelation of his recent arrest.

According to reports, the 16-year-old – Madonna’s son with director Guy Ritchie – was arrested in September for possession of marijuana.

Police are said to have found the drug in the teenager’s backpack, on 28th September.

With news of the arrest circulating this week, Madonna has pledged her support to her eldest son.

In a statement released to the Associated Press, the 58-year-old said: “I love my son very much. I will do whatever I can to give him the support that he needs, and I ask that you respect our privacy at this time.”

The latest scandal comes just months after Madonna and Guy settled their highly-publicised custody battle over Rocco.

The drama is said to have kicked off this time last year, when Rocco was supposed to join his mother in New York. When the teen failed to show, choosing instead to remain in London with his father, Madonna took her plight to the courts.

A judge concluded that, due to his age, Rocco would have to appear in court himself to agree to permanent custody terms.

The family are said to have reached an agreement in September – shortly before Rocco’s reported arrest – with Rocco remaining in England, for school.
