We’re used to Hollywood relationships ending in bitter separations and acrimonious divorce cases which drag out for months, but not all Hollywood couples behave in this way.

Naomi Watts and her former partner, Liev Schreiber, have managed to separate amicably and are still on good terms as they co-parent their children.

We were sad to learn of Naomi and Liev’s separation last year after 11 years together. The low-key couple shared many happy times together, and have two adorable sons, Sammy, eight, and Sasha who is nine.

In a recent interview with Red Magazine, Naomi dismissed any possibility of her dating right now, saying she wants to put her family first.

Thankful and grateful

“(Dating) just seems completely frivolous and counterproductive and just not really in my world right now,” she said.

“Right now, I’m just healing and want to protect the family unit,” the Hollywood actress explained.

While Naomi may not be interested in dating, Liev has been seen out on a date with interior designer Morgan Brown in Los Angeles.

Despite this, Naomi doesn’t hold any hard feelings towards her ex, and the couple intend to raise their boys together to the best of their abilities. “We have huge love and respect for one another, and high hopes for it to remain that way going forward,” Naomi explained.

Naomi said she always had a feeling that she would have little boys, saying: “I always knew I'd be a mum of two boys. Being a mum is about guiding them but also staying out of the way.”

Happy Birthday to this one!! @lievschreiber

One value which Naomi wants to instil in her sons is good manners. “I’m a stickler for manners,” the 48-year-old explained. She added that she thinks this is a product of her British upbringing.

Naomi has done her best to cope with splitting from the father of her children but admits that sometimes she has her “bad days”.

“There are good days and there are bad days and Liev and I are on great terms - we're trying to do our absolute best for the sake of the children and we hope to keep moving forward in that way.”

She heaped praise on her ex, saying: “He's a fantastic dad, a wonderful, wonderful man, and we still want the absolute best for each other. So, that's pretty much all I'll say.'

Naomi and Liev’s mature handling of their separation sets a good example for their sons, and we think there are a few Hollywood couples who could learn something from them…
