Sometimes it’s easy to forget that celebrities come from humble beginnings. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson got REAL on Thursday, reminding us to be grateful for our blessings.

The Moana actor shared a picture with his 96.1M Instagram followers of his happy, grinning family celebrating Thanksgiving.

“After we bowed our heads in prayer, we went around the table and everyone shared what they were thankful for,” the 45-year-old said in the caption, “Beautiful seeing and listening to everyone speak from their heart. Tears, laughter and boundless gratitude.”

While the father-of-two may be the second-highest paid actor of 2017 according to Forbes, he revealed financially things were not always so easy for the former WWE star growing up.

After we bowed our heads in prayer, we went around the table and everyone shared what they were thankful for. Beautiful seeing and listening to everyone speak from their heart. Tears, laughter and boundless gratitude. Personally, I’m a little surprised no one expressed how thankful they were that THE Sexiest Man Alive (I refuse to relinquish my title to Blake Shelton or any man) was sitting at the table. I didn’t want to be a dick and interrupt the prayer, but at some point someones gotta address the elephant in the room. Jokes aside, it was a very special Thanksgiving. As my mom pointed out earlier in the day, there was a time back in ‘87 when we couldn’t even afford Thanksgiving dinner and was praying someone would invite us over their house to eat. We were in a tough spot back then, but we got thru it. And here we are today. One big, extended, blended, slightly crazy, loving, grateful ohana. #sib

“It was a very special Thanksgiving. As my mom pointed out earlier in the day, there was a time back in ‘87 when we couldn’t even afford Thanksgiving dinner and was praying someone would invite us over their house to eat,” Dwayne said candidly.

He continued, “We were in a tough spot back then, but we got through it. And here we are today.”

It’s heartening to see someone so successful stay so grounded. The Rock sure seemed excited to celebrate with his ‘one big, extended, blended, slightly crazy, loving, grateful ohana (Hawaiian for family)’.

Dwayne has one daughter, 16-year-old Simone, with ex-wife Dany Garcia, and another precious daughter, one-year-old Jasmine, with girlfriend Lauren Hashian.

Fans appreciated the Fast & Furious actor’s honesty.

“Life can be such a struggle. You have earned everything you have. Thank you for being so positive,” said one Instagram follower.

“You're a gem in this world, Dwayne. Keep doing the good you feel in your heart and make this world a better place,” said another fan appreciatively.

The hunk also joked in the post about not being People’s reigning Sexiest Man Alive anymore, saying “I refuse to relinquish my title to Blake Shelton or any man.”

We’re happy for him to keep the title!

And thank you, Dwayne, for showing us that despite our troubles, life gets better.
