While you were celebrating the New Year's festivities last night, families around the country had an extra reason to be joyful - they were welcoming new additions to their families.
And according to reports today, our first baby of 2016 was born in Limerick!
Little Kieran Patrick Gibbons took 2016's 'New Year baby' record when he arrived into the world at 11 seconds past midnight, at Limerick's University Maternity hospital.
The little one weighed in at 8lbs 3oz, and is said to be doing very well along with his mother, Jennifer.
Little Kieran was closely followed by baby Gabriella Doncova, who was born at 21 seconds past midnight, in Dublin's Holles St hospital.
What a way to ring in the New Year! We would like to send our warmest wishes and congratulations to the families of these little tots as well as all those born over the holidays. These families certainly have an exciting year ahead of them, that's for sure.
