Is it teething time for your little one?
Ireland’s top-rated online nursery retailer Kaliedy have partnered with children’s charity BUMBLEance

Kaliedy, Ireland’s top-rated online nursery store, has today announced a partnership with BUMBLEance, the Children’s National Ambulance Service. The charity relies heavily on fundraising and donations to offer safe, comfortable and free transport for critically ill children in need of treatment or respite and their families.

The Children’s National Ambulance Service provides free transport to and from treatment centres for kids with rare diseases, cancer and life-limiting conditions. The state-of-the-art seven-vehicle ambulance fleet were launched by the Saoirse Foundation in 2013

Each vehicle is kitted out with WiFi, state-of-the-art entertainment systems and are fully accessible for all. However, the cost of running such an operation is extremely high and heavily reliant on fundraising and donations.

An Angel Trip, which is designed for a terminally ill child making their final journey on earth before gaining their angel wings, costs an average of €400. An average round trip in a BUMBLEance is around 180 kilometres and costs €100 for fuel, while replacing the tyres on the fleet every six months costs almost €5,000.

From today, Kaliedy’s customers will be able to do their bit for BUMBLEance when they buy a brand new unique BEE sensory toy at a cost of €10. Kaliedy will donate all the proceeds of the sales of the toy to the Children’s National Ambulance Service.

Veronica Collins, who's five-year-old son Shaye regularly uses the BUMBLEance service said: “Shaye suffers from a rare blood disease and adrenal insufficiency with undiagnosed dwarfism. He needs to travel from our home in Killaloe in Clare to Crumlin Children’s Hospital on a regular basis. In the past, the journeys were so stressful- he was uncomfortable being buckled into the car for such a long drive and we would have to pull over regularly to look after him if he was ill following his treatment.

“I discovered BUMBLEance when Shaye was two and to say it transformed our trips is an understatement. Shaye loves going to Dublin now- he is mad about Chris, our driver! He loves to watch Peppa Pig and I can now sit with him and read books abouts princesses and castles to him.

“Fundraising for BUMBLEance is so very important for families like ours. BUMBLEance is so good to us, we are so blessed to use it for Shaye’s appointments it makes them so much easier. We are so thankful to Kaliedy for helping families like ours by helping BUMBLEance keep their wheels turning!”

Laura Ward, Marketing Manager with Kaliedy said: “We at Kaliedy have so much respect for the work of the BUMBLEance team. Children, particularly sick children, are the innocents of society and deserve all the support in the world.

“It really saddened us to think that BUMBLEance may be struggling to raise vital funds due to COVID- 19 restrictions. Without the opportunity to hold events or even do bucket shakes, they needed to think outside the box- and we had no hesitation helping them out.

“This new BUMBLEance BEE stuffed toy is uniquely available on our website, and is totally in keeping with the top-quality products already available through Kaliedy.

“We are delighted to play a small part in BUMBLEance’s mission to support sick children and their families.”
