With the World Cup in full swing it is not surprising that rugby is the hot topic of the moment, but there is one player who currently has other things on his mind.

Leinster and Ireland star Gordon D’Arcy welcomed his first child with wife Aoife Cogan four months ago, and admitted to the Sunday Business Post that fatherhood has completely changed him.

Confessing that he worries about not being there for little Soleil, the 35-year-old said: "Suddenly your priorities change and perspectives change and you worry about not being there."

"You just worry about things a lot more. I don't think there's anything that tops being a kid. You are blessed when it happens. We always planned it and now that she's here, she takes priority," he added.

Fatherhood has also changed how he spends his days off, happily admitting that lunch with his teammates has been replaced with daddy duties.

"[Days off] used to be just deciding where you were going for lunch with your teammates, now it's up early changing nappies and then spending time with my baby and my wife."

Despite not making it onto this year’s World Cup team, the star has been kept busy running the Exchequer pub in Dublin and the Form School Pilates centre, which he runs with Aoife.
