A 15 year old girl was found this morning after being reported missing last night in Shannon, Co. Clare.
The girl had been out with friends, but didn’t come home and no one knew where she had gone. Her family called the Gardaí and reported her missing, who initiated a search.
Together with the Irish Coast Guard and the Limerick Marine Rescue, a rescue helicopter crew used FLIR infra-red thermal imaging camera to locate heat sources in the woods.
Rescue crews pointed light beams towards the source, and ground crews searched the area for the girl. She was found sitting under a tree, disorientated but uninjured.
She was escorted safely home before reuniting with her worried family.
