Is it okay to heat baby food in the microwave?

It is perfectly safe for you to heat your baby’s food in the microwave. In fact, if you cook vegetables in the microwave fewer nutrients are lost as opposed to when they are boiled. The only disadvantage to microwaved food is that it can easily become too hot and can contain ‘hotspots’ that can fool you into thinking the food is cooked through when it isn’t. Be sure to stir the food thoroughly in order to properly disperse the heat.
Alternatively, you may want to use the oven or a container of hot water to heat the food. Your baby may even be fine with unheated food. It all depends on what you’re most comfortable with. For more information on how to prepare and cook baby food click here.
