How can I prevent my child from catching a cold?

It’s a fact of life; your school child will get sick. They will more than likely get the chicken pox and a few times a year they will pick up some bug or catch a cold off a classmate. It’s all part of growing up but there are things you can do to lessen your child’s chances of catching a cold and infecting the whole family! Here are some of our top tips to keep your child healthy throughout cold and flu season:
  • Teach your child the importance of frequently and thoroughly washing their hands
  • Reinforce their immune system by making sure they are getting regular exercise, lots of sleep and plenty of healthy, nutritious food.
  • Talk to your child about the importance of using tissues and covering their mouth when they cough or sneeze.
The good thing to remember is if your child does get a cold that it is helping to build their immune system. As your child gets older, he will get less and less colds each year.
