Vicky Balch was just 19 when she tragically lost her leg after the rollercoaster she was on crashed at Alton Towers.

17-year-old Leah Washington also lost a leg in the accident that left Joe Pugh, 19, with two broken knee caps, Daniel Thorpe, 27, with a collapsed lung and 49-year-old Chanda Chauhan with internal injuries.

Speaking on ITV’s Good Morning Britain for the first time since Merlin Attractions was fined £5m, the now 20-year-old said that the size of the fine won’t “make a difference” and that what the theme park do now is all that matters.

“It’s not a lot of money to them – even £10m wouldn’t have been a difference – but as long as they’re making those changes to make sure the rides are safe I’m not bothered,” she told Piers Morgan.

Bravely, Vichy said her own personal case may go on for many years before adding that it is not about the money.

“No amount of money is ever going to bring my leg back.”
