Any women out there trying to juggle raising a family with a job, especially with a newborn or young child at home, will be familiar with the rollercoaster of emotions you experience on a daily basis – frustration and guilt among them.

One person who can most certainly relate to these feelings is Irish actress and presenter Jennifer Zamparelli, who welcomed who first child, daughter Florence, last March.

The mum-of-one, who is currently promoting her new RTÉ comedy show Bridget & Eamon, admitted this week that she has felt the pressure of being a self-employed, working mum – and she would love to see the government taking steps to make life easier for others in this position.

Speaking to MummyPages, she explained: “For me personally, being self-employed and having to take time off is difficult. It’s a huge dilemma, and then [mums] feel they have to go back to work very, very quickly. Then, they’re in this whole turmoil of regret and guilt for a long time after. So, something to alleviate that would be fantastic.”

As for future baby plans, the hilarious and talented Jennifer admitted that she would love to expand her brood – but there’s a condition!

“I would love to have a rake of kids – if I had a bigger house! But I live in a shoebox,” the Breakfast Republic presenter added, jokingly.

Do you agree with Jennifer’s belief that there should be some extra support for self-employed and working mums, to make life easier?
