Labour is a stressful enough experience when everything is going according to plan, so we can’t imagine how terrifying the experience must have been for this couple.

By-standers were forced to pitch in and help deliver a woman’s baby after she went into labour while stuck in a traffic jam in New Jersey this week.

Rose and Trevor Abudd were on their way to hospital when little Bella Rose decided that she couldn’t wait any longer to arrive into the world.

With the Abudds stuck in traffic and Bella starting to make her appearance, Trevor reportedly pulled over, honked his car horn and called the police.

Thankfully, two women who happened to be at a nearby beach club were trauma nurse Sarah Wood and EMT Lauren Kammerer. The pair came over to the Abudds’ car to see what was going on and immediately pitched in to help Rose out.

Describing the incident as “crazy”, Trevor told local media: “My wife was screaming. I saw the top of the baby…I thought she was dead.”

Sarah and Lauren helped to safely deliver little Bella Rose, with reports confirming that the tot and her mum are now doing well.

Sharing her thoughts on the incident, Lauren said: “It couldn’t have been a better moment. It really was awesome to see the baby and hear the first cry. It was amazing.”

Thank heavens it all worked out for them. Well done to all involved, and congratulations.
