We have previously reported on some pretty dramatic roadside births, and we have yet another one to share with you today.

A female police officer got more than she bargained for when she ended up helping to deliver a couple’s baby this week.

Boston policewoman Rafaela Carlisle-Swedberg had no idea what was in store for her when she pulled the couple over for running a red traffic light.

She soon realised why the couple were in such a hurry however, with the driver informing her that his wife, sitting in the passenger seat, had gone into labour.

When the couple refused an ambulance, Officer Carlisle-Swedberg offered to follow their car, but they didn’t make it too much further. Indeed, they were forced to pull over once again, with the Officer helping to deliver the couple’s healthy baby daughter.

Needless to say, it was a first for Officer Carlisle-Swedberg, who told local media: “Luckily, they had a towel in the car, so we wrapped the baby in the towel and passed her off to her mother. She was quite relaxed.”

“It’s super memorable. In general, you remember a lot of your calls,” she added.

Well done, Officer!
