Kathryn Thomas gets real about her social life after becoming a mum

Before you have a baby, the thoughts of sitting in on Friday night isn't on the top of your list.

And before Kathryn Thomas welcomed her first child, she loved her nights out in clubs.

But that isn't the case since she became a mum to gorgeous Ellie.

The RTE presenter has revealed the highlight of her weekend is now getting to bed before 9pm to watch the news.

Kathryn told the RTE Guide, ''In one way, everything changed and then in the other, nothing has changed. It feels like she was always meant to be there.''

She continued, ''But have I changed? I suppose my focus has changed hugely away from myself, so now everything is focused on her.”

Kathryn celebrated Ellie's first birthday in March and can't imagine life without her.

The 40-year-old said, ''I think the biggest change for me is that I’m obsessed with her and I’m completely focused on her and I think ‘What the hell did I do before?'''

She continued, ''I know what I used to do, I used to go out with my friends and go dancing and have a lovely time and drink wine. Whereas now, I’m in bed on a Saturday night at 9pm watching the news and I’m delighted to be in the scratcher.''

She added, ''So it’s changed utterly but not at all if that makes sense.''

Kathryn is also no stranger to criticism in the industry - which extends to people viewing their thoughts on motherhood.

She said, ''I remark how a lot of new mums speak of having a newfound resilience, in that they no longer sweat the small stuff. Having been in the public eye for 20 years I had to learn a long time ago not to care what people think and I learned to be happy with myself, in myself and in my decisions.”

Wise words and ones for us all to remember.
