Katie Hopkins hit the headlines earlier this year when she took to social media to air her opinion on a television documentary which shone a spotlight on children who exhibit specific behaviour problems.

Pouring scorn on the childrens' diagnosis, Katie said: "Why does everything have to have a medical diagnosis for everything? Is it that our children are getting naughtier, or are we not parenting properly?"

Showing little to no empathy for the struggles these children and their families face on a daily basis, mum-of-three, Katie, became the subject of much criticism.

However, her critics may now be surprised to learn that Katie's own daughter has recently been diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum.

Speaking in a candid interview with The Guardian newspaper, Katie revealed she now has firsthand experience of the condition, explainin
g: "One of my daughters is diagnosed as being on the spectrum."

Paying tribute to her little girl's remarkable talents, Katie, who recently called a child with ADHD 'a little git', gushed: "It's an awesome thing, to live with a child who can memorise a times table in two minutes."

Acknowledging the ways in which the condition manifests itself, the columnist explained: "They don't get things emotionally. Like, when I fell off my bike, and I was lying on the floor, she was asking what was for tea – but they do connect brilliantly with facts and details."

The star, who recently accepted her outspoken views have the tendency to cause untold distress to those at which they are aimed, appears to now view the condition somewhat differently.

As opposed to focussing on the negative aspects of the diagnosis, Katie insists: "I consider it a kind of gift, because you can see the world differently."

We're glad to hear Katie has changed her perspective on it.
