It can be incredibly difficult starting a life in a new town, but when your reputation precedes you it can be all the more daunting - something which famous mum-of-five, Kerry Katona, learned this week.

On the receiving end of negativity and criticism from concerned residents who feel the reality TV star's presence may be an unwelcome addition to Crowborough in East Sussex, Kerry took to Twitter to express her gratitude to those who have made an attempt to welcome the star and her five children.

Ignoring the critics, 34-year-old Kerry wrote: "Would like to say a big hello and a big thank you to all the lovely people in my new town for such a warm welcome."

While Kerry, who recently split from partner George Kay, insists she won't "let negativity bring her down" her second eldest daughter, Lilly, has decided to be a little more forthcoming in her views.

With admirable poise and dignity, 12-year-old Lily took to Twitter to write: "Dear Crowborough, It's Lilly here one of the newest locals. I'm excited to meet you all apart from a little hate going round. Please remember everyone who is hiding behind screens typing hurtful words, you are just not slagging of my mum but her children too!" (sic)

Finishing her post on a positive note, Brian Mc Fadden and Kerry's daughter wrote: "Except I would love to thank everyone else in my new village for standing up for us all. So excited to meet you all and know that once you know us and my mum, we'll all get on." (sic)

Congratulating her granddaughter on her courage and decorum in the face of adversity, Kerry's mother, Sue, posted: "Lilly I'm so proud that your my granddaughter your a beautiful person inside and out any 1 who meets you will know x" (sic)

Similarly, an equally delighted Kerry wrote: "So proud of my children. Love you baby girl."

Let's hope Kerry and her family's big move is hassle-free from here on in!
