Waterford Winterval has many exciting events taking place leading up to Christmas this year. There is such a range of events taking place such as Waterford on ice, Ballybricken vintage fair, Elf the movie, elves workshop, penguins at the palace and much more. Some of the events are ticketed so make sure to check online and make a booking if necessary. Many of the events are free and there is sure to be something for all the family. Santa’s Grotto at the Medieval Museum                 
Come and join us on a wonderfully exciting journey through the enchanting North Pole Santa experience at the award winning medieval museum. Along the way you will explore the enchanted garden, climb aboard the Polar express train, seek out all the little critters hard at work, ramble through the elf's living quarters, before you meet Santa Claus where you will get to give your wish list, receive a lovely gift and have your photo taken. Booking required.
 
Christmas Market
Experience the fantastic atmosphere of Christmas in our wonderful Winterval Market. The streets of Waterford will be transformed into a traditional Christmas marketplace, with the spectacular Winterval illuminates as its backdrop. You’ll find food stalls serving hot delicious treats and will discover a beautiful array of handcrafted items from Waterford’s talented craft designers as you wander through the stalls in search of that perfect Christmas present. 
 
Horse Drawn Sleigh
Our majestic Shire horses will take you on a magical tour of Waterford City taking in all the wonder of the Christmas market, the Viking Triangle and festivities at John Roberts Square.

Express Train
Hop on board the magical “Winterval Express”, a road train that takes you on an enthralling half hour journey through the historic streets of Waterford. See the Winterval attractions; the Giant Postbox and Carousel, Vintage Ferris Wheel, Reginald’s Tower, Winterval Christmas Market,
Pick up at train station Barronstrand St.
 
Bad Santa           
Winterval with an edge. Come one come all to experience the home of Waterford’s very own Grinch, this year’s Bad Santa. Located in the refurbished Ballybricken bandstand, this landmark gets an iconic transformation into the home of the nefarious holiday villain. Different performances ensure it is suitable young kids and families while later shows are designed for young teens that will enjoy Winterval with a twist. You’ll be left checking the chimney not once but twice.
 
Live Animal Crib
Winterval are delighted to introduce a live animal crib. A family favourite of both young and old, come see a crib the way it was meant to be seen. Real animals ensure an unforgettable experience for all the family.  Set in Ballybricken, the heart of many animal fairs in Waterford over the centuries.
