About

Built in 1880 as the Gate Lodge to Milford House, the revolutionary home of the famous Mc Crum family, one of Northern Ireland’s premier Linen manufacturing families and the home of William Mc Crum, inventor of the penalty kick in football. It was the wonder of its age filled with inventions, gadgets, an architectural jewel and the first house in Ireland to have electricity. House tours include wonderful collection of family possessions, furniture and paintings. Hear tales of this extraordinary family and of the Manor House School which owned Milford House from 1936 to 1965. The small attractive garden and grounds with tree preservation order are peaceful, relaxing and secluded.
