While she is due to welcome her second child at the end of this year, Kim Kardashian’s path to pregnancy was not without struggle, and the star has opened up about the complications that could yet lay ahead, further down the road.

In an interview with C magazine, the pregnant reality star admitted that, due to suffering from placenta accreta, she may have to have her uterus removed in the future.

Placenta accreta is a condition whereby the placenta grows blood vessels into the uterus and, rather than being completely expelled during birth, the placenta stays attached to the uterine walls. This condition can lead to serious complications including severe blood loss and even death.

Revealing that baby number two will likely be her last, the mother-of-one said: “They think I’ll have placenta accreta again, so if the placenta grows a little bit deeper than it did last time, then they are prepared to have my uterus removed, which is a little scary for me.”

Kim also spoke candidly about one of the disadvantages of trying for so long to conceive – it has taken a little bit of the fun out of her sex life with husband Kanye West.

Having previously joked that she was having sex “500 times a day” with the rapper, she said: “Yes, it takes the fun out of it. I’m like, ‘I’m ovulating, get home now!’ He’d be like, ‘Wait, I’m in the studio.’”
