La Roche-Posay 3 step routine feedback

I had never used La Roche-Posay before. I was aware that La Roche-Posay was an expert brand for sensitive skin from hearing other mums take about it at playgroup. I was also aware that La Roche-Posay was only available from pharmacies, but again, only from speaking to another mum who uses it. I have tried numerous creams for my child’s eczema, but only the steroid creams have helped sooth it to date.
I found Lipikar cleansing oil very easy to use and it felt nice on my son’s skin.
Lipikar Baume AP went on easy, absorbed well but made his skin itch and feel hot, seemed to make skin more red and irritated.
I found Thermal Spring Water fun to spray for him, if a little cold, but easy to apply.
Once the 3 step process was completed, his skin felt smoother and did calm down but step 2 continued to make liam feel itchy and hot, he didn’t want to keep using it. I felt overall it did work, and the itching and stinging did lessen as his skin got better after the first 2 days.
I think I will continue to use the 3 step routine, would be interested to know the overall costs to keep it up, but if it works, it works.

I was delighted to be included in the La Roche Posay trial. We all have different types and degrees of eczema in our family so it was very interesting to see how we each felt about the different products. My husband had very severe eczema as a child (regularly hospitalised with it) and I had eczema as an older child and occasional reactions on my hands and fingers now as an adult. My eldest daughter (6) had severe eczema from a very young age, my son (4) has occasional reactions to certain harsh products with circular outbreaks of eczema but otherwise his skin is fine. My youngest daughter is only two weeks old so no signs of eczema ... yet!

Our eldest daughter had very severe eczema as a baby from the age of two months, with her worst time peaking at the age of one when we were away in France on holidays. We tried every lotion and potion in every chemist in the region and it was only on the last day of the holiday that we discovered the La Roche Posay products and realised that we were only about an hour away from the region of La Roche Posay! The products we bought in France were very effective in calming her skin, allowed her (and therefore us) to sleep and became a very effective preventative measure to protect and moisturise her skin (and anyone who deals with eczema knows that prevention is key to avoid flare ups as much as possible) reducing the need to use steroid creams and other more potent medication. However, once we ran out of those bottles, I could never find the exact same types for "severely dry skin" in the chemists here and bought ones simply for "dry skin" which were not quite as effective for her skin and to be honest I got a bit confused with the different unfamiliar names of their products on identical looking packaging so I eventually gave up looking for them. Her skin improved dramatically after the age of two (she is now six) and is now dry with itchy flare ups. We have been able to prevent flare ups by using Aveeno body lotions and Sanex in the bath, both cheaper and available in the supermarkets.
And so to the trial. First of all, the timing could not have been better. The package arrived the day after we arrived home with baby number three so my daughter was delighted to have a package arrive especially for her and her skin. She jumped straight into the bath to start the trial (with the Lipikar Cleansing Oil) and it took convincing to get her out of it! She was delighted that there was bubbles in the bath (emolients like Oilatum result in no bubbles in the bath!) and liked the smell too. Although it is classed as an oil, it didn't leave an oily residue on the bath, or her skin but was instead easily absorbed in her skin and left it lovely and moisturised. The cream (Lipikar Baume AP) was lovely, easy to apply and felt lovely on her skin. Even the packaging was easy for her to open and apply herself and there was no overpowering smell, just a subtle nice clean smell. While the cream was thicker than other creams we tend to use it absorbed just as easily and left a nice sheen to the skin. We were a little puzzled as to the purpose of the third step of the routine, the Thermal Spring Water spray. It was certainly a novelty for my daughter and she liked that but we didn't find it particularly effective in reducing her itch, although the novelty of it was effective in distracting her from the itch! One issue we did have with the spray was the packaging. Having just applied the Lipikar Baume AP cream, our hands were a little slippy and therefore it was difficult to hold and spray the thermal Spring Water spray.
My husband also tried the creams although is not quite as obedient in following the three steps as my daughter is! His eczema tends to flare up at times of stress and with a new baby arriving into the family and a very stressful period in work just previous to receiving the creams, his eczema had flared up on his hands, arms and face. He tried the Lipikar Cleansing Oil after using his usual shower gel so perhaps was not as effective but said it was a nice cleanser to use. He liked the cream (Lipkar Baume AP) and used it specifically on the areas where his eczema had flared up, on his hands and arms. He found it was a nice moisturiser but did not feel that it reduced the itch particularly. Perhaps if he had used it more often than every few days it may have proved to be more effective!
Having just given birth, I tried the products myself and found the cleansing oil a lovely gentle cleanser and lovely to have a bath with - particularly being very tender as a result of difficulties with breastfeeding. I found the moisturiser to be lovely and easily absorbed without a strong scent. And the thermal spray was gentle and refreshing on the afformentioned sore breasts not to mention to refresh my tired face!
All in all the products were lovely, gentle and moisturising. While they didn't reduce the itch for my husband, that was most likely due to him not following the instructions fully rather than a failing in the product! My daughter's skin is usually dry and like sandpaper but is now lovely and soft and I have enjoyed using it on my tired skin too! My baby is still very small so I am currently only washing her in water but would have no hesitation in using the products on her too in the next few months. As long as these products are available I would happily buy them for my family and the only way they could improve is to make them available in supermarkets too.

Was delighted to take part in the challange as i had tried so many products on my son nothing made a big difference..My son ages 4 suffered from dry skinn since he was born but nothing i used made a big difference... on the day it arrived it was bath night ( bath 1 night a week shower other nights) i used the LIPIKAR CLEANSING OIL [/b]only in the bath and i noticed when i was patting him dry his skin was appearing dry like it usually did, i applied the [/b]LIPIKAR BAUME AP it was very easy to apply i found it did take a little time to absorbe but he loved helping me apply his ''magic cream'' he found sprayng the THERMAL SPRING WATER so amusing and would twirl around laughing, thankfully it was not a big ordeal to apply the products andit is working a treat his skin is so soft now it is great, i have used it everyday so dont know how he will be if i stopped, but i dont want to be going back to him scratching so i will contunie using this product, am delighted with it and would highly recommended to others,
Oh and i use the THERMAL SPRING WATER on my face every day too, its so refreshing..

before the trial i have never heard of La Roche-Posay products. After being accepted to the trial I done some research into them and found they can be expensive. only until i done my research did i realise they are recommended by dermatollogists for sensitive skin. i believe they are only available in pharmacies. personally i do not know if this adds to the cost and would like to know if they were more widely available in supermarkets etc would they be slightly cheaper? as a baby i was badly burned leaving 80% of my body scarred. in 30 years i have never found a mousteriser to help with my very dry skin. i found the first step cleansing oil ok. i have to admit i didnt notice much of an improvement to my normal washing. step 2 the balm was amazing. i loved how it glided on the skin. i didnt find it absorded great and so it wouldnt be a step i would do if i knew i was having to get dressed and leave the house soon after applying but it did make my skin soft and shiny and nice to feel. step 3, the spring water confused me. TBH i didnt find any use for it. if i used it in the process of the steps one after another it interfered with the balm and made my skin slippy, using it on its own i was just spraying water on myself. after completing the whole process i found my skin alot smoother and more mouist looking but it did not last long. i would need to be repeating the steps at least twice daily to feel any effect. taking this all into account this is not a product i would use in the future. for the price i would expect more. if i had to recommend it i would only say to use step 2 and leave ample time to soak into the skin.

Thanks so much for letting us take part in this trial. I have 2 little boys who have always suffered with eczema. I’ve never found a long term solution to this issue, other than prescribed steroid creams, which obviously can’t be used all the time.
As soon as we got the package we got to work that evening with a bath. The two boys love the bath, so it was easy to add a few drops of the bath cleanser (Step 1) Lipikar Cleansing Oil to the water and to wash the boys with it. (I didn’t get any bad smell at all, and I would consider myself super sensitive to smells, especially unpleasant ones). Afterwards their skin was soft and smooth – but not oily. Normally their skin is very rough, and often the bath irritates it rather than soothes it, but with the cleansing oil, it really made a difference, and after just one bath I was pleasantly surprised.
After that, it was jammies and bed, so I did the (Step 2) Lipikar Baume – super easy to use, spreads really easily and absorbs quickly. The boys were very happy to have this applied (normally they don’t want me near them if they have a flare up) so this was great. It was nice to have the Thermal Spring Water (Step 3) to give a little spritz after – lovely and refreshing and the boys really saw that part as a treat. I guess it’s about what you make of these things, but they really didn’t feel any part of this process was hassle – which is great, because they can be really uncomfortable when they get a flare up.
We’ve been using La Roche-Posay 3 step routine now since we got it, and I have to say it is the one product I have found that really genuinely works and gives relief – but it also has a great preventative measure to it.
I must admit also, that my hands have improved dramatically since I’ve started using it on the boys. Where before they were rough, worn and really in bad condition – they are actually starting to retun to normal mummy hands instead of haggard old things – a very pleasant addition to the trial.
I’m really delighted with these products. They are generous size, so don’t run out quickly, and to be honest, even if they did, I’d still buy them, because they really do work.
I’ve used La Roche-Posay products before (sun cream and face cream), but to be honest, I never thought they would have something for eczema. I’ll definitely continue using it.
Thanks again

When I heard about the trial i was excited because my little boy has eczema and I have tried nearly every product out there to try get rid of it. I had never heard of la roche-posay until i heard about the trial so i was very happy when i got accepted to try it .
Step one: LIPIKAR CLEANSING OIL. It was pretty easy to use. When i was puttiing my baby in the bath i would put the gel on my baby and his skin felt a little bit better after a few days of doing this and it felt softer.
Step two: LIPIKAR BAUME AP. I put this on my baby before putting him to sleep to help it soothe the ichyness and it really helped and he wasnt as irrated after me putting the cream on him.
Step three was the thermal spring water. I didnt use much of it as the gel and mosituriser did most of the work to help soothe my baby .
i was very happy with the products and i would recommend buying them as they do help and he has been alot better and he has less flare ups 9/10 from me :)

La Roche-Posay 3 step routine feedback

I would like to start by thanking you for giving me the opportunity to take part in this trial. I was aware of the brand La Roche-Posay however I did not know that the products could be used as a treatment for eczema. I have only really looked into the product range a bit more since using the products so I was not aware that it was only available in pharmacies or how well regarded the company is by dermatologists.
I used the products on my daughter Mia who does not have eczema however she does have particularly dry skin. I have never been able to get Mia’s legs silky smooth, no matter what I have used there was always a roughness present. I used olive oil for a long time, then went on to Johnsons baby oil which actually brought her out in a severe rash and then we went with silcocks base which worked best even if it was a little sticky. I must admit that I was nervous about the trial as I didn’t want her to break out in a rash again due to a change in product. I am happy to report that these products are amazing; I am totally converted and will be using them myself! All three products were easy to use – they were all gentle on Mia’s skin, left no residue and are very smooth unlike the silcocks base.
The whole process was very easy to follow and realistically it wasn’t really a change from our normal routine. I just swapped out my old products for these. If I’m honest I used the Termal Spring Water the least – not because it didn’t work but just because the combination of the other two products worked so well I didn’t see the need for a third step. Possibly in cases of severe eczema this third step would have more of an impact.
I initially wanted to have my sister do this trial as she does suffer from eczema however she was on holidays when the products arrived. I am actually happy in a way as it meant that I got to test these products out on Mia and it really has made a great difference to her skin and I certainly intend to continue using them. I am going to start using them myself and will happily recommend them to anyone I know who mentions dry skin/eczema as through our experience I am 100% sure it will work.

Delighted to take part in the survey. My 4 year old boy has very sensitive skin and after discovering La Roche Posey sun cream which was perfect for him I was excited to try the 3 step routine.

Firstly I used Lipikar Syndet in the bath. Although it didnt create a very soapy it was very good at cleansing the skin. Not a very attractive smell but not offensive either. I thought as it was oil based it might leave an oily feel to the skin but this was not the case and Seans skin felt lovely and soft after the bath. Next I used the Lipikar Baume AP. It was very easily absorbed into the skin and did not take much effort to rub it in. I concentrated mainly on the problem areas, creases at the elbows, behind the knees and creases at the neck and it was perfect. Again not a great smell but I guess with a natural product you would expect this. I then tried the Thermal Water spray, To be perfectly honest I did'nt think it did any good but I would imagine if there was a flare up or during the summer hot months it would be very handy to have especially when you are using more products on your childs skin like sun cream.

Overall, I am very impressed with the 3 step routine and will definately be using it going forward. I have seen a big improvement in my sons skin, we have had very few problems with dry itchy patches since we began and I think it will only get better over time. I have also tried it myself and have noticed an imporvement in my own skin, much softer and areas such as elbows etc are noticably smoother.

Thanks for the opportunity for taking part in this test, I would definately recommend this product and will be continuing the routine.

I was delighted to be picked to involved for this test as two of my children have bad eczema.
We had gone to the eczema clinic in Tallaght hospital and they highly recommended La Roche-Posay for its treatment so I was already predisposed to trying it as it comes with such strong recommendation from them.
We have only been using the products for 3 weeks but we have seen an immediate result.
LIPIKAR CLEANSING OIL - this oil does have a, well, oily smell but I much prefer that to filling it full of perfumes which just make my kids skin worse. So thumbs up for not including perfumes. I'd take a natural smell any day in preference to perfume. You only need to use a small amount which I think makes the oil great value as it seems to be lasting a good time. It absorbed into the skin immediately which was brilliant with the kids skin seeming very moisturised.
LIPIKAR BAUME AP - I really liked this product. The shape of the tube is easy to use - like all moisturisers, it took time to be absorbed but I liked this on the kids as (1) it did absorb after a little time (unlike emulsifying ointment which doesn't) and (b) I felt like it was really sinking into their skin. With it being winter, my hands are dry at the moment, so my skin had the added benefit of the moisturiser too.
THERMAL SPRING WATER - my girls skin can get very 'scalded' with their eczema - I know eczema differs from person to person, but for them this is a big deal. It flares up and really stings. So I found the thermal spring water great for that and for cooling them down after I had applied the moisturising baume in step 2. It had a great cooling effect and their 'scalded' patches died down within two days which is unusual for us. We normally go from eczema, to scalded patches to going really bad and ending up using steroid cream to fix those patches. The only thing we did different this time was use the La Roche Posay range but I think it was the thermal water that did the trick here. For the mums who didn't know what to do with the water, this is how I used it and found it great.
I think the range is great value as it lasts a long time, and for my kids, it avoided a costly trip to the doctor and applying steroid creams which I don't think you can put a price on. I love the fact that it is pharmacy only as I think that makes it more serious as a product. No disrespect to any creams in the supermarket but somehow, I don't think those brands understand skin in the same way. Maybe the marketing is working LOL.
Anyway, I would definitely recommend the range to anyone with eczema and would recommend trying it and sticking to it for a few weeks as you'll see marked results.

I’ve really enjoyed taking part in this trial, both myself and my daughter (12) suffer from eczema, me to a lesser extent, but my daughter really suffers, always has. Getting an opportunity to try something that comes recommended by dermatologists is a brilliant opportunity, rather than going to the doctor and getting steroid cream prescribed.

We’ve tried a huge range of products, but funny, I had never even considered La Roche Posay – and the results speak for themselves.

As we both suffer I decided we should both do this trial for the 3 step routine and within one week we both noticed a real difference.
We have been using the Lipikar Cleansing Oil in the morning when washing – and don’t let the name deceive you, it’s not oily, it’s just perfect, and your skin will feel silky smooth afterwards. After washing, we used the Lipikar Baume cream – this was just the most gorgeous moisturiser, no smell to speak of and it felt really soft and healthy, and absorbed really well.
We used the Thermal spring water after moisturising, and it gave a lovely refreshing feel to the skin (I keep this on hand downstairs now, so that if my daughter’s skin flares up or she starts itching, we use that immediately, and it’s a super help).
Overall I have to say this product is just fantastic. We’ve been using it for 3 weeks, and we’re like brand new. We will definitely be using it again, and again and again. I’m delighted to finally find a product that works, and it is worth every penny (especially if the alternative is nasty steroid cream and even nastier doctor’s bills).Tickled pink
Well done La Roche - myself and my daughter are absolutely thrilled with the results, and we're telling our friends about it too.

My little boy has had eczema since he started teething Ive tried Aveeno Oil-Autim and the La Roche Possay..... i honestley think Roc really is the best with their La Rocke-Possay. He uses the shampoo moisturiser and bath wash and i find it brilliant because a little goes a long way..... with some of the products on the market i found it made him slippy and greasy and i had to use a lot more than i would with la roche.... Although it is a tad bit exspensive where i live its still the best on the market for my son hes not greasy and his skin is so much better from using it, we even bought their sun cream which didnt irritate his skin.

Its a great product if you have dry skin I have used it a few times and find it really affective. i would wothout a dout recommend this to anyone because its simply so affective :)
