Kate McCann has closed down the Madeleine McCann fundraising shop amid reports donations have fallen drastically.

She issued a statement following the closure: “Unfortunately due to many commitments and pressures, I am unable at this time to attend to website orders.”

The mum continued: “We greatly appreciate your support. Thank you to everyone who has kindly donated to Madeleine’s Fund through our Online Store (donations can still be made via one of the methods below).”

Kate added: “Your kindness and generosity is most less appreciated however and continues to buoy us up. Thank you again.”

Reports have claimed the real reason for the store closure is due to the lack of donations.

A source told MailOnline: “The idea that money is still flooding in is just wrong. Donations dried up a long time ago. At times the story comes into the news a few kind people send in a quid or two but there is nothing of any real value.”

Earlier this month, Scotland Yard requested another six months of funding for the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

Over 11 years have passed since the disappearance of Madeleine McCann and her parents still don’t know what happened to their daughter on the night of May 3, 2007.

Over £11 million has been spent on Madeleine’s missing person’s case so far. It is understood the detectives have not found any new leads in quite some time.

Her parents, Kate and Gerry, said in the past that they will never give up hope of finding their eldest daughter and they are grateful for the continued investigation.
