Earlier this week, it was reported that a baby boy broke a 30-year record, by being declared the biggest baby ever born in one South Carolina hospital’s entire history.

Now, another not-so-little tot has made headlines, and all due to his rather impressive size!

Employees at a hospital in Indiana were left amazed last month, when they helped to deliver a baby weighing a whopping 16 pounds.

According to local news outlet WLKY, Waylon Cole Hallett entered the world on May 1, tipping the scales at 16 pounds and measuring 24.5 inches in length.

Waylon has gone down on record as the heaviest baby born in the hospital, and one of the heaviest ever delivered in the entire state!

Due to being born with breathing and feeding problems, Waylan spent the first seven weeks of his life in hospital, receiving treatment.

Thankfully, he is now at home with his family – including three older sisters – and is thriving.

Opening up to local news, Waylan’s proud father said that the family were expecting a ‘big baby’ – but one closer to 11 pounds.

Recalling the moment that he was born, Edmond Hallett said: “We weighed him, and it came up 16 pounds, so we all looked at each other and were like, ‘Well, let’s try that again, maybe there’s a mishap, whatever.’

“So they reset it, and it came back at 16 pounds again!”

Waylon, who is already sporting a full head of curly hair, now reportedly weighs over 17 pounds – and is the apple of his family’s eye!

Waylon follows in the footsteps of a New Zealand tot born last month, tipping the scales at 16lbs 4oz. The baby boy, whose name was not released to the media, was delivered via C-section in a Wellington-based hospital.

At the time, the national media speculated that the baby boy was possibly the heaviest ever born in New Zealand.

The child’s father said: “People are calling him the next Jonah Lomu, but we think he’ll be a concert pianist.

“We are not that tall ourselves, so we are not sure where his size has come from – at the moment we are thinking he’s probably just a big baby.” Well, you can say that again!

Congratulations to the Hallett family on the arrival of their big bundle of joy!
