If you live with a husband or partner, you’ll know how empty the house feels when they are away. Naturally, kids are an excellent source of company, but it’s always nice to have an adult to talk to, also.

Actress Amy Huberman was clearly feeling a bit lonely while husband Brian O’ Driscoll was away recently. But the star, who is well-known for her witty and hilarious insights into parenting and family life, came up with a novel way to entertain herself while Brian was away.

She posted a funny snap to Instagram of a cardboard cut-out of Brian in his rugby gear, with a cup of tea on the table beside him. Underneath, she wrote: “Husband away so I find it handy to keep a spare one around the house.”

"So how was your day?

"Sit down love and drink your tea, you'll give yourself indigestion.

"Ps, this was here when I got home.

"What is it doing here??

"I forget it's there and screamed almost 87 times now. #jaysus"

Amy and Brian have been married for seven years and have two gorgeous kids together; Sadie, aged four, and Billy, aged two-and-a-half.

She revealed that she and Brian may expand their family in the future, but that they have a lot of things to consider first.

The Stag star told The Herald: “I sometimes wonder how on Earth I would fit in another child. It would be nice, but the logistics of having to do that is a lot of work.”

Amy also gave an insight into life with her little tots, saying: “Sadie and Billy are great. They’re getting big and bold, but they’re super."

While it’s widely speculated that young Billy might like to follow in his dad’s sporting footsteps, Amy can’t quite envisage her little boy playing rugby just yet.

"He's such a little baby, and it would be a bit bizarre if he followed the exact same path, but whatever he wants to do, as long as he is happy,” the 37-year-old said.

Like many mums, she finds the idea of her children growing up strange: "It feels like a lifetime away from him yet. I don't think of them being older than they are. It's hard to imagine.

“I guess if they were happy and followed what they loved, I'd be happy.”
