The mother of a popular American TV star has taken to social media in order to inform her son's fans and followers that he has tragically lost his fight for life following a car accident in recent weeks.
Nathaniel Martson, best known for his roles in US shows The World Turns and One Life to Live, suffered severe injuries after being involved in a car accident on October 30th.
The 40-year-old actor, who was left paralysed as a result of the injuries he sustained, underwent surgery on November 5th - a harrowing process which saw the star's heart stop twice.
In a heartbreaking post, his mother, Elizabeth, revealed that her son had lost his fight for life, beginning the message with the words: "Dear family and friends, it is with a heavy heart that I share this devastating news."
Paying tribute to the man who starred opposite Angelina Jolie in feature film Love is All There, his devastated mother continued: "My beloved and cherished son, Nathaniel Marston, who was putting up the good fight until last night was not able to continue due to the traumatic and devastating nature of his injuries."
Assuring fans that her son was surrounded by friends and family at the time of his death, she wrote: "Nathaniel passed away peacefully as I held him in my arms. Father William, myself and his second Mommy Lisa, and our dear friend Charlotte were by his bedside, he was not alone."
Nathaniel's mother has expressed her gratitude to members of the public who have sent their condolences as the actor's family come to terms with the devastating developments.
