No doubt many of you will have already watched the video of little Josie Morrison; the baby who, at six-and-a-half months, was seen falling into a swimming pool and keeping herself afloat as her mother watched on.

The footage has become quite controversial in recent days, with some criticising mum Keri for watching on patiently as her tiny tot appeared to ‘struggle’ in the water.

With the video going viral around the world, Keri decided that it was finally time to defend herself and explain the very important reason behind the much talked about footage.

Appearing on Fox & Friends, Keri revealed that she decided to put little Josie through swimming lessons at six months, after losing a son in tragic circumstances.

“My son is no longer here because he didn’t have these skills. To me, I’m protecting her, and that’s what a parent is supposed to do— to protect her child— and I feel like I failed my son, and I’m not going to fail my daughter,” explained Keri.

Josie is said to have gone through four weeks of these swimming lessons, learning how to hold her breath, float and roll over without going under the water in the process.

Referring to the sight of her daughter keeping her head up over the water at such a young age, Keri added: “That vision is what fires me up to make sure that other children are safe and can do this in the water.”
