We have heard so many stories detailing ‘breastfeeding shaming’, and one mum took to her social media channels to point the finger of blame at an airport this past week.

Mum-of-three Leslie Morgan Steiner was using the facilities at Terminal C of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport last week, when the ‘nursing lounge’ caught her attention.

It wasn’t the amazing facilities or setup that intrigued her, but rather the fact that, essentially, the toilet usually reserved for those with disabilities had been turned into the ‘nursing room’.

Ms Steiner took to her Facebook page to slam the airline, sharing a photo of the scene, and writing: “Seriously? This is where Reagen National Airport admin expect moms to feed their babies? Not good enough.”

The post has since gone viral, attracting its fair share of criticism, with supporters sending what Ms Steiner described as “enthusiastic, outraged” messages.

Opening up to The Huffingston Post, author Ms Steiner said that the scenario presented for breastfeeding mums was pretty bleak.

A spokesperson for the airport admitted that while the ‘nursing room’ is far from ‘ideal’, they are ‘working with their teams’ to improve the facilities.

This brings to mind the image recently captured by Israeli photographer Tamar Shugert, which depicted a couple eating and feeding a child in two separate bathrooms. The caption read: “If you are not willing to eat your lunch in the bathroom, then don’t expect me to feed my kid here!”
