Too often we are reporting on stories of breastfeeding-shaming, where mums are either asked to cover up while nursing or are expected to go to the bathroom to feed their child.

This is an issue that has come up over and over again, and while so many are voicing their dissatisfaction over this kind of treatment, sometimes it needs to be laid out in black and white – which is exactly what has happened this week.

In an effort to highlight the hypocrisy of asking women to breastfeed their children in the bathroom, an Israeli photographer has captured exactly how ridiculous a request it is, through one very powerful and hard-hitting photo.

Photographer and mother Tamar Shugert captured the image as part of the 52 Frames’ ‘Make A Statement’ photo challenge, with respect for breastfeeding mothers serving as her theme.

The images captures a split moment whereby, as she is breastfeeding her baby under an apron while sitting on the toilet, her husband is eating a plate of food on the toilet next door.

The caption reads: “If you are not willing to eat your lunch in the bathroom, then don’t expect me to feed my kid there!”

“Women should not be asked to go feed their children in bathrooms. Nobody wants to be eating in the bathroom. I wouldn’t breastfeed in a bathroom even if I was asked to,” Shugert told The Huffington Post.
