If there's one high-profile couple who have been on the receiving end of intense speculation regarding their future family plans, it's Professor Green and Millie Mackintosh.
The celebrity couple, who tied the knot in 2013, have been forced on numerous occasions to respond to claims Millie was expecting, and it seems like they may be wholly tired of it now.
In a bid to quash rumours and address their family dynamic, Professor Green opened up about his decision to delay starting a family with the former Made in Chelsea star.
Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, the Just Be Good to Green singer revealed that family history has played a role in his thought process regarding fatherhood.
The rapper, who lost his father to suicide just seven years ago, explained that the implications of his father's tragic death have been far-reaching.
Professor Green explained that he has chosen to undergo therapy in a bid to deal with his father's untimely demise before welcoming children of his own.
"I felt it was right to take precautions by going to therapy and trying to fix myself, because – being happily married – children are the next logical step," he said.
With admirable courage, the star revealed that he harbours concerns regarding his mental and emotional welfare - issues he hopes to rectify before becoming a dad.
"I think there’s a genetic link with depression and suicide. My dad did it [took his own life] and his brother did it," the 31-year-old star revealed during the candid interview.
While he acknowledges a possible genetic link, he asserts he has never experienced similar, saying: "I haven’t yet had suicidal thoughts although there have been a lot of dark, difficult days over the years."
The star revealed that while his wife believes he will make a wonderful father, he is insistent certain concerns must be addressed before they welcome a child into the life they share together, explaining: "It is not up to Millie to fix me. Only I can do that."
We wish him all the best with his endeavours.
