Congratulations are in order! New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern just became a mum for the first time.

She and her partner Clarke Gayford are now parents to a baby girl.

"Welcome to our village wee one. Feeling very lucky to have a healthy baby girl that arrived at 4.45pm weighing 3.31kg (7.3lb)," the 37-year-old mum wrote on Instagram.

"Thank you so much for your best wishes and your kindness. We're all doing really well thanks to the wonderful team at Auckland City Hospital."

The PM, who is also the first elected world leader to take maternity leave, said that she is able to juggle her roles because of her incredible support network.

“I do not want to create a false impression that all women should be super-human or super-women,” she noted, according to The Australian

“I am able to do what I’m doing because I have enormous support around me and it makes me quite privileged.”

The day-to-day running of the Prime Minister's office will fall under deputy PM Winston Peters. However, Jacinda will be on call for major decision-making.

In the mean time, we can't wait to see what beautiful name they choose for their daughter.

We are so happy for them! Congrats again to the parents on their growing family!
