A newborn baby, who tragically passed away just 100 minutes after his birth, has been dubbed a hero by his devastated parents.

Baby Teddy's mum, Jess Evans, was told during her 12 week scan that one of the twins she was carrying was suffering from a fatal condition which stops the brain and skull developing.

As a result of this devastating abnormality, Jess and her fiancé Mike Houlston were informed that it was most likely their little boy would be stillborn or die shortly after birth.

Echoing the doctors' predictions, little Teddy did slip away less than two hours after he was delivered alongside his brother Noah in April 2014.

Although only with his family a devastatingly short period of time, baby Teddy had a profound effect on those around him and became Britain's youngest organ donor after his kidneys were used to save the life of a patient in renal failure.

Opening up about her son's short life, Jess said: "Although he wasn't with us very long, and we brought him into the world knowing there was no hope of a life for him, we are incredibly proud of his heroism."

Paying tribute to this little boy, Mike said: "He lived and died a hero. It's impossible to explain how proud we are of him."

Commenting on the impact Teddy made in those 100 minutes, Dr. Paul Murphy from NHS Blood and Transplant said: "Every donation is inspirational. It is a selfless act of heroism. But Teddy's story is exceptional. He was the youngest organ donor in the UK."
