Here at MummyPages HQ, we're well-versed on the number of methods a pregnant woman can apply in an effort to bring on her labour.

From tucking into a spicy dinner to having a quick tumble between the sheets, we're often told we hold the key to the whole thing,

We doubt, however, that one new mum from Belfast expected the sound of her favourite band to do the job, but that is exactly what happened when her waters broke during a One Direction concert last Wednesday!

Julie-Anne Kirk, who was one week overdue, decided to ignore the protests from family and friends, and attend the highly-anticipated boy band concert despite the likelihood she could go into labour at any minute.

Reflecting on her decision, the 29-year-old mum said; "But I felt fine and I didn't think I was ready. We had bought the tickets so long ago, maybe a year ago, so I wanted to go and never thought about anything happening."

Julie-Anne's baby had different ideas, however, and after Julie-Anne began to feel unwell during the gig held at the SSE arena, she took herself out of the staging area and considered the situation.

"I was sitting in the concert and it was literally about half-way through when I started to get a sore tummy. I texted my partner after 10pm to tell him that I had a sore stomach and that it could be the start of labour," she recalls.

Initially dismissing the pain as a reaction to her concert snacks, Julie-Anne, who is also mum to eight-year-old son Dylan, soon realised the severity of the situation.

"I went back and forth to the toilet and then literally my waters broke in the toilets. I was afraid the concert was about to finish - I didn't want to be trying to get out of there when the concert was just over - so I texted my cousin and my niece to come out to me," she explains,

Leaving thousands of screaming fans and the biggest boyband on the planet behind, Julie-Anne made her way to the hospital and less than two hours gave birth to daughter Laiya.

"We literally arrived at 11.10pm and I got into the birthing pool and she was born at 12.50am. It doesn't bear thinking about if I hadn't of been able to get out of the concert."

Julie-Anne's beautiful baby girl made her highly-anticipated arrival at the Mater Hospital and is now the proud owner of a signed One Direction photo which was sent by the boys themselves after hearing of Julie-Anne's story.

What a story for Laiya's Sweet 16!
