The Strictly Come Dancing final is just around the corner. We will soon see Joe Sugg, Faye Tozer, Stacey Dooley or Ashley Roberts lift the glitterball trophy, but it sounds like this year’s final will be quite the melancholic event as one of our favourite professional dancers is set to leave the show.
Ballroom dancer Kevin Clifton is rumoured to be leaving the show and we have to admit we’re heartbroken. The charming Grimsby dancer is planning on saying goodbye to the popular dance show, even if he does win this year’s competition.
A source told The Sun, “Kevin has been overheard backstage saying he feels the time is right for him to move on and that winning the contest won’t weigh heavily on his decision.”
It’ll come as no surprise to hear that Karen Clifton, dancer and his former ex-wife, has also impacted this decision.
Kevin and his fellow Strictly star have been working side-by-side despite their separation earlier this year.
The pair have continued to dance together and even completed their own tour following the breakdown of their marriage, but it looks like the dancer is struggling with being around his ex-wife all of the time.
They continued: “He has absolutely loved his time on the show and the opportunities that it’s given him but he is getting itchy feet and there’s still tension with Karen. While things are slowly getting more civil between them, it’s not exactly fun spending time around your ex.”
Kevin is set to perform in West End musical Rock of Ages after Strictly comes to an end this weekend.
He is also hoping to work alongside sister Joanne Clifton at her dance academy.
Here’s hoping Kevin will finally get his chance and lift the glitterball trophy on Saturday. It’d be the perfect end to his time on Strictly.
