We are overjoyed to hear that Orla Tinsley’s double-lung transplant was a success. The cystic fibrosis campaigner has tweeted for the first time since she received the call for the life-saving operation.

 

The 30-year-old journalist wrote, “Thank you, everyone, for all your love and support.”

 

She continued, “I now have shiny new lungs and spent yesterday, with my family, thinking of my donor and their family.

 

 

Orla has captured the hearts of millions of people by sharing her story through Twitter. She has worked immensely hard to raise awareness for organ donation, “I am forever grateful for their forward thinking and generosity. #recycleyourself #beatcf”
 

We are beyond happy for Orla, as is the Irish public who have sent thousands of well wishes to the Co. Kildare journalist.

 

People quickly showered Orla with messages of love and support, with her tweet receiving over 11,000 likes in less than 24 hours.

 

 

 

 

 


Orla was on life support prior to the life-changing operation. On December 20, she shared the incredible news that her doctors had found a suitable donor.

 

She shared, “This morning we got a call but I wanted to wait. Well, here it is, Lucky Number7.  I’m not afraid..Please send love, prayers and best wishes. Double lung transplant is a go! Love love love  #BEATCF.”
