Penneys issue urgent appeal as they recall children’s shorts over strangulation risk

Penneys has issued an urgent appeal to customers as they recall children’s shorts over safety fears.

The popular highstreet retailer has had to recall their Primark Faded Leaf Children's Shorts due to a risk of strangulation.

According to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, the risk is in relation to injuries as the ends of the drawstrings on the shorts measure more than 20cm.

In a statement on their website, they stated, “They could get entangled and cause accidents such as strangulation for children”.

The branding of the shorts is Primark and the type/number of the model is 3070301. They have said the exact batch number and barcode are unknown.

Penneys have said there are approximately 1,129 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission explained what to do if you already own a pair of the shorts and revealed how you can get a full refund.

“If you believe that you may have purchased an affected product, discontinue use immediately and keep it out of the reach of children”.

“If you have purchased this product then please return it to any Penneys/Primark store where you will be offered a full refund”.
