A child's first day at school is always incredible emotional and as Reese Witherspoon's recent Instagram post indicates we often need a little family support to deal with the change!

While we prepare all summer for the big event, support our child through the transition and encourage them in this exciting new chapter of their lives, often times us mums can't help feeling a little sad as we reflect on our little one's first few years with us.

Like Reese, much-loved actress, Kym Marsh, also acknowledged this particularly emotional time in a parent's life by opening up about her own experience and admitting she was finding the prospect of daughter, Polly, starting school a little difficult to comprehend.

Chatting about her youngest child's next big step in her latest column for OK! magazine, the Coronation Street star said: "Even though I refer to her as my 'baby', she's not any more. She's a little girl now and that's kind of sad in a way because it feels like my last child's growing up."

Considering the effect her daughter's new routine will have on her and acknowledging all the fun times ahead, 39-year-old Kym wrote;" I know she's going to have such a nice time, though."

Kim, who lost her baby son Archie just moments after his birth in 2009, reveals she's accepted she may find the transition a little difficult initially, writing: "I'm bound to be emotional when I drop her off at the school gate on her first day."

Aw, we're sure Kym won't be alone on that front!
